How Wind Energy in Los Angeles Helps the Environment

2006 saw the Los Angeles Department of Water and Energy in an alliance with General Electric, up to a wind farm of 120 megawatts, named the Pine Tree Wind Project. Hopefully it will one day meet 20 percent of the energy public service needs.
As the power in 2004, the wind across the state of California produces more than 4,200 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, about 1st 5 per cent of all electricity. More than 90 percent of all its features wind generation is located in three regions: Altamont Pass, San Gorgonio and Aqueduct.
The compound of wind turbines use the energy in motion to mechanical energy, which is then converted into electrical energy. Wind turbines can be located near farms, homes and businesses in places Breezy, for example along the coast of Los Angeles. Turbines that can be deployed in areas where it is uneconomical to place the power lines.
The parts of a wind farm includes turbines, fed by an underground power line and a connection from the farm closest to the grid. Wind energy is more available in some seasons, because climate affects wind speed. In Los Angeles, the speed is higher in the blazing summer period. Approximately three quarters of all wind energy generated annual spring and summer.
Although created by wind turbines older is not as cost efficient as some other forms of energy, new wind turbine designs to compete with electricity costs of nuclear and coal.
Some advantages of using wind energy include the replacement of polluting conventional power plants, no pollution of air, land or water, it is completely renewable, the deposit is relatively quick, and production energy driven by the rising price of gas and oil.
However, there are some problems with the wind, such as required use of large tracts of land, despite the fact that the simultaneous use of land is available for tasks such as agriculture and livestock grazing. Another potential problem is that it can cause erosion in desert areas and disrupt the habitats of wild animals.
